Robert Resner, consultant coordinator, The Other Bar (resner2100@comcast.net). The Other Bar is a network of recovering lawyers and judges throughout the state, dedicated to assisting others within the profession who are suffering from alcohol and substance abuse problems. It is a private, non-profit corporation funded by the State Bar and private donations, and provides services in strict confidentiality.

Betty Ford Center (www.bettyfordcenter.org) — A nationally recognized drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in the desert community of Rancho Mirage south of Palm Springs. Co-founded by former US First Lady Betty Ford. The 30-to-90-day inpatient and outpatient programs are gender-specific and oriented around the 12-Step philosophy.

Pacific Hills Treatment Center (www.pachills.com) — Specializes in the treatment of adults struggling with co-occurring/dual-diagnosis issues and multiple relapse. Emphasizes the spiritual aspects of recovery in both Christian and 12-step programs. Separate men’s and women’s facilities.

Promises Treatment Centers (www.promises.com) — Residential and outpatient drug and alcohol treatment. Facilities in West Los Angeles and Malibu.
Renaissance Malibu (www.renaissancemalibu.com) – A holistic residential healing center devoted to the treatment of individuals who suffer from alcoholism and other addictions.
Serenity Knolls (www.serenityknolls.com) — Serenity Knolls is a residential addiction treatment for recovery from drug addiction and alcohol abuse. It’s located in a retreat-like setting in the hills of Marin County 20 miles north of San Francisco. Clients start an activity-filled program of group process, individual counseling, educational films, reading, writing, recreation, and 12-step meetings.
